The Grange Institution (TGI) took home the gold award for Best Environmental Initiative and the silver award for Entrepreneurship in Education at the first ever HoneyKids Asia Singapore Educational Awards 2021.

47 international schools in Singapore participated in this inaugural Singapore Education Awards

TGI is among 47 international schools that participated in this inaugural event, and we are humbled to have received such important recognitions.

Set up as a boutique primary school, we often say we are a “small school with big dreams”. From being the first in Singapore to offer the combination of internationally-recognised curriculums to the first in the world to create proprietary VR content to support our International Primary Curriculum, we have dedicated ourselves to pushing the boundaries for the kind of educational quality and experience expected of a good international school.

The awards recognise two major activities in our school programme:

The Green Advocates

The ‘Green Granger’ initiative at The Grange champions the Education for Sustainable Development movement initiated by the United Nations by cultivating a love and appreciation of nature in our students from a young age. This initiative ties in with the ‘Singapore Green Plan 2030’ with the aim of helping students develop a strong awareness of sustainability and current global issues such as climate change.

Inspiring Young Entrepreneurs

One of the core competencies within our Creators-In-Action education philosophy – Entrepreneurial Spirit – inspired 7 year old James Withana to start an online store offering an array of lifestyle items. With the intention of helping orphaned children in his home country, profits from James’ sales goes to helping under-privileged kids in Sri Lanka.

Most recently, James donated 12 boxes of his products to the school for a fund-raising campaign to support children with cancer.

The school is constantly making improvements to our facilities and programmes to encourage our children to be creative and involved in every learning opportunity, in a safe, happy and natural environment. This includes introducing the Math Hueristics programme and an initiative that includes the development of a 1.5 acres green field into an outdoor learning space. Do keep watch on this space as we will be posting updates on the school’s development plans!
