Holiday Camp – Young Fashion Designer

Cre8tors Camp

The Grange welcomes back Annabelle (AnnabelleTTN), who previously worked with our students during the Young Fashion Designer’s Camp.

This June, students will take part in a small‑group felting masterclass that introduces them to the process of turning fibres into wearable textiles. With Annabelle’s guidance, participants will learn how to select materials, apply felting techniques, and build their own textiles from the ground up.

The programme focuses on hands‑on making and creative decision‑making. Students will gradually bring their individual pieces together into a complete outfit, developing both practical skills and confidence in their design choices.

The experience concludes with a simple fashion runway presentation, where each student has the opportunity to share their finished work in a supportive setting.

This masterclass is designed for students with an interest in fashion, textiles, or making, and offers a meaningful introduction to the creative process behind clothing and design.

Day 1 (9:00am – 1:00pm)

Participants are introduced to the fundamentals of wet felting. They are guided on how fibres, colour and texture transform through hands-on techniques. They will experiment with layering, blending, and manipulating wool and natural fibres, creating felted swatches that will form the foundation for their fashion pieces.

Day 2 (9:00am – 1:00pm)

Hands-on with sewing! Participants start to work their felted swatches as they are introduced to basic hand and machine sewing techniques. Participants begin to combine their felt with other fabrics to design a unique garment, adding texture and detail to their wearable outcomes. This day gives participants the chance to unleash their creativity to experiment with different design concepts for their final garment.

Day 3 (9:00am – 1:00pm)

Participants refine their designs and sew their pieces together as they learn how to apply their design concepts to their very own garment. Garments created by participants reflects their personal aesthetics while maintaining quality, practicality and wearability.

Day 4 (9:00am – 1:00pm)

On the final day, participants refine their creations with thoughtful finishing touches and styling. They will then prepare for a professional photoshoot and runway presentation, culminating in a fully immersive, end-to-end experience of a real-world fashion designer.

Participants will present their garments and articulate the inspiration and story behind their work. Parents will be invited as audience to this showcase.
