Five in a Row! The Grange Secures Gold for Sustainable School of the Year at the Singapore Education Awards 2025

The Grange Institution (TGI) has received the Gold Award for Sustainable School of the Year at the annual HoneyKids Asia’s Singapore Education Awards 2025. This remarkable achievement marks our fifth consecutive win in environmental and sustainability in education

Delivering Quality Education

Our journey towards sustainability goes beyond what we teach – it reflects how we embody our values in everyday teaching. In March 2025, UNESCO invited TGI as one of only two international schools worldwide to launch the World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development 2025 at its Paris headquarters. This incredible opportunity placed our school alongside global leaders in sustainability, further spotlighting our dedication to Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4): Quality Education.

Transforming Communities and Ecosystems

Inspired by this global recognition, our Year 4 students began a cross-border collaborative project with our sister school in Cambodia. They brainstormed and developed innovative water filtration solutions for a rural village, addressing clean water access challenges. Through virtual meetings and hands-on experiments, they showed how young minds can make an impact.

Our Green Granger Initiative has transformed our campus into a thriving biodiversity hub, with over 100 species of documented fauna and wildlife. Students actively engage in urban farming, collect data, and conduct experiments across five distinct zones.

Beyond our campus, the Grow With The Grange campaign has led to the planting of more than 150 trees in Sumatra and Zambia. Each tree is named after a student and tagged with a QR code that provides its exact location and detailed information. This initiative has to-date helped offset 3.5 tons of CO₂, reduced soil erosion along coastal communities, and fostered community engagement, all while aligning with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

From Art to Action

Even our youngest learners are taking the lead in sustainability efforts. They participated in the Go Green SG movement, contributing to the SG60 collaborative mural made from recycled toys. This stunning artwork, now in the Singapore Book of Records, taught them environmental responsibility and the power of collaboration.

We are immensely proud of our students and the community we’ve built together. This Gold Award honours TGI’s belief that sustainability is more than a concept — it’s a way of life.
