Celebrating Earth Day 2025, The Grange Institution (TGI) reaffirms our dedication to promoting a sustainable future and nurturing environmentally-conscious global citizens. Supported by our strong sustainability initiatives, we remain at the forefront in integrating eco-conscious practices into our brand of education.
From green campus design projects to topics under the Cambridge Global Perspectives, The Grange has also launched student-led initiatives such as recycling campaigns, composting, and water filtration projects. Through this, students gain hands-on experience in understanding how their efforts can contribute to contributing to a more sustainable future. These actions, though small, will ripple in these young minds and spur them on to bigger initiatives to shape a greener future.
The Green Outdoors as Our Classroom

In this digital age, where children often spend excessive hours in front of digital screens, TGI champions the benefits of learning through nature. Drawing parallels to the UNESCO’s article on ‘How forest schools are helping kids recover from screen overload’, the school is constantly expanding and improving its outdoor learning spaces.
Since 2023, the school has added 5 new interactive zones within the school, such as the pond community and fruit trees zones. These thoughtfully designed zones enable students to relate their classroom learning to the natural environment, effectively bringing many concepts learned in the classroom to life.
Studies show that increasing time spent in nature boosts cognitive development, emotional well-being, and physical health. At TGI, the natural environment is readily available at our doorstep, providing a respite and a harmonious balance between screen time and outdoor play.
During the school’s Earth Day celebration, students collaborated on a wall mural project, expressing their connection to nature artistically and commitment to respect the Earth. Teachers and students also had an outdoor picnic, allowing them to relax, reflect, and bond with their friends in a natural setting with no air-conditioners, and without electric fans!

Empowering the Next Generation of Eco-Leaders

Student researched and experimented on the effectiveness of various water filtration methods. The school’s Green Granger initiative is supported by two main competencies within Cre8tors-in-Action: Respecting the Environment and Active Citizenship. They guide the school’s aim to minimise carbon emissions where possible, encourage sustainable practices, and foster awareness of the impact of climate change among its students.
We believe that education is the key to addressing the pressing environmental challenges of our time. By equipping students with not just the knowledge and skills, but the passion to make sustainable choices, the school is nurturing a generation of eco-leaders who drive positive change.
As we celebrate Earth Day 2025, The Grange Institution invites you to reflect on the importance of sustainability and the role each of us plays in protecting our planet. Together, we can create a greener, more sustainable future.
