Meet Our Principal

Welcome to The Grange Institution!

It is my privilege to be leading The Grange Institution (TGI) in Singapore. We are proud that our diverse and multicultural community is made up of families representing 19 nationalities and cultures.

I often say that The Grange is “a small school with a big vision” to offer a future-focused curriculum and programmes that will truly develop global citizens of tomorrow. We want our Grange Kids to grow up to become creative, respectful and responsible individuals that who see themselves as active servant leaders who can positively impact the world and people around them. We deliver this vision through our Cre8tors-in-Action©️ educational philosophy.

Our team of dedicated and experienced educators and support staff are committed and motivated to support this vision in providing quality learning experiences and a nurturing learning environment where every child can experience success. We truly value each child as a unique individual and a positive member of our school community.

The Grange curriculum and programmes are innovative, well-balanced and designed to engage the learners holistically through a range of broad-based experiences.

Our Grange Kids’ literacy, numeracy and science learning is supported by the Cambridge International English, Mathematics and Science curriculum which have been known to provide a solid foundation that will prepare every learner well into the middle years. In addition, we offer every student at TGI the opportunity to take an additional language within the school hours. For students who are beginning English language learners, we offer extra support in English language development in an immersive mainstream environment.

In addition, we deliver the International Primary Curriculum (IPC). At every year level, students are engaged in different thematic Units of Learning designed to appeal to their interests and help them to learn more about the world around them. These Units of Learning help children to see how subjects are both independent and interdependent. This enables them to see the big picture of their learning, make connections across different subjects, see topics and issues in the world from multiple perspectives, and to become passionate about taking positive actions as a result of their learning.

We promote awareness and encourage self-expression and creativity through our physical education, art, music and technology curriculum. These subjects provide avenues where students communicate beyond the use of language, and excellent opportunities exist where students become more aware of their self-identity as well as develop important research, thinking, communication, social and self-management skills.

As an innovative and progressive school, we have many exciting initiatives realised through collaborations and partnership with industry providers to further enhance the authenticity of our students’ learning. Our partners from VERE360 help our teachers and students to co-create proprietary VR and AR content in all subjects where learning no longer needs to be limited by physical space. BEEP Lab has commenced a partnership with The Grange to introduce architecture within selected IPC Units of Learning where our students see how architecture plays an essential role in human societies everywhere in the world. We have ventured into our own regenerative urban farming and regenerative gardening through our “Green Granger” initiative to take science learning outdoors into the natural environment and to introduce organic healthy snacks as part of our Garden-to-Table project.

Having a healthy mind and a healthy body are crucial to your child’s success at school. At The Grange, we expect all adults and students to model and develop a set of personal goals that are highly relevant in all aspects of our daily lives, as well as to maintain a positive attitude towards active living. We emphasise a school culture where self-discipline and respect is highly valued. It is our belief that healthy, happy children learn best.

We value parents as partners in education. I hope you would invest your interest and time to be informed about your child’s learning, participate in learning opportunities and to help us extend your child’s learning beyond the classroom.

I am confident that the educational experience at The Grange caters to all dimensions of a child’s intellectual, emotional, social and physical well being. In addition, we pride ourselves for being a “family away from home” to support all our overseas families here at The Grange.

Thank you for choosing to be a part of our TGI family.
